Department of IT Events 2018-2019

ISRO INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Department of Information Technology of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, Nagpur organized Industrial Visit for Third Year Students at Indian space Research Organization (ISRO), Bangalore on 11.12.2018. ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) is the lead center of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) responsible for design, development, assembly & integration of communication, navigation, remote sensing, and scientific and small satellite missions. For the benefit of students there is a space exhibition center at ISAC. Our students were able to gained knowledge about how television signals are broadcasted with the help of satellites. A working model was demonstrated. Various images of India taken at different angles from the satellites, for the purpose of geographical/weather study were seen. Latest images of moon obtained from satellite were also shown. Different electronic devices used in satellite and space communication were explained.

HAL INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Department of Information Technology of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, Nagpur organized Industrial Visit for Third Year Students at Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd. (HAL), Bangalore on 10.12.2018. Students visited the campus of HAL and saw the huge models of aero planes, helicopters, etc.

PARENTS - TEACHERS MEET

Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur organized Parents-teachers meet on 9th Feb, 2018. The motive behind this meeting was, to have direct interaction with the parents or guardians of our students, to discuss and show the progress of their wards.

Tricolor Open stage competition

Tricolor Open stage competition was organized by Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, on 15 August 2018. The competition was based on patriotism and it is basically 3 minutes act of singing, dancing, painting, role-play etc.. Judge for the programme, Ms Anagha Gajbhiye, Asst Prof in Electrical dept, RGCER, Nagpur judged the participants. Prof M.M.Goswami, HOD, IT department, RGCER appreciated the efforts of students to make the event successful. Dr Manali Kshirsagar, Principal, RGCER appreciated the efforts of IT Department to make the event successful.

Facewall Inauguration

The Facewall inauguration of the Notice Board, was held on 15th August, 2018 @ IT Department of, RGCER, Nagpur. This exhibit was inaugurated by Dr .P. Debre, Dean Academics, RGCER. He appreciated the artwork of students. He was accompanied by the Departmental HOD, Prof. Manish Goswami and staff members.

Tree Plantation

The Social activity Tree Plantation, was held on 15th August, 2018 @ IT Department of, RGCER, Nagpur. This exhibit was inaugurated by Dr .P. Debre, Dean Academics and Prof Hemant Turkar, HOD, CSE department, RGCER. Prof. Manish Goswami and staff members were present for event.

Forum Installation

Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur organized forum installation program “Ignite-18” on 27th August 2018 under the Guidance of Mr. Yogesh Narekar, Student Activity Incharge and Prof. M.M. Goswami Head, Dept. of Information Technology. Dr Manali Kshirsagar, Principal gave away the badges to the elected members and congratulated them.

Alumni Talk- Krunal Shambharkar

Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur organized Alumni Talk by Mr. Krunal Shambharkar on 13th August 2018. Mr. Krunal Shambharkar is a student from 2016-17 batch and is currently working as a Developer at TCS, Pune. He addressed the students on Importance of Programming & Programming Competitions.

Expert Lecture on Cybercrime- A threat to Society

Department of Information Technology of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research Nagpur had organized expert lecture on “Cybercrime- A threat to Society” on 27.08.2018. The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Amar Nayak, Head Trainer, Dreamsoft Systems, and Bhopal. This expert talk was organized for VII Sem- students to provide information about Cyber attacks, computer crimes related issues and impact of cybercrime on society.

Orientation programme for 3rd semester

Orientation programme “Mahiti Tantra-2018” for 3rd semester students was organized by Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, on 08 August 2018. Prof M.M.Goswami, HOD, IT department, RGCER affirmed that the motive behind conduction of such programme is to introduce to students about departmental activities, policies for student, guideline for internal marks etc . Resource person for the programme, Mr Amit Tiwari, Chief Technical Officer, Flying Penguins, Nagpur commenced the programme with a motivated speech and the new arenas in Recent trends in IT Sector. Dr Manali Kshirsagar, Principal, RGCER appreciated the efforts of IT Department to make the Orientation programme successful.

Educational Visit at Cyber Crime Cell, Nagpur

Department of Information Technology of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research Nagpur organized Educational Visit for Final Year Student at Cyber Cell Nagpur on 31.08.2018 to Cyber Crime Cell, Civil Lines, Nagpur. The Session was explained by Mr. Balram Zadokar, PSI, Cyber Crime Cell, Nagpur.

Visiting Professor-Dr. Rajiv Misra, IIT Patna

Dr. Rajiv Misra, IIT Patna was invited as a Visiting Professor at Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur. The initiative was taken on 25th to 27th July 2018 by Department of Information Technology. He enlightened our faculty and students in the domain of Data Structure and Algorithm and Data Mining. He had interactions with students having project in his domain and provided valuable suggestions for improvisation and enhancement of the projects. Faculties of the departments also interacted with him regarding academics and personal growth. Laboratory visits were also scheduled and he gave many helpful inputs in lined with the same for betterment of the Labs. The overall event was successful under the guidance of Principal, Dr. M.M. Kshirsagar.

ANNUAL TECHNICAL EVENT-TECHWAVE19, IGNITE 2K19

Students from various colleges thoroughly enjoyed the two day Technical festival-“IGNITE-2k19” on 04 & 05 Jan 2019 at Information Technology Department of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research (RGCER), Nagpur. A total of three events took place over the two days involving over 100 participants. Mr. Manish Goswami, Head, Information Technology, RGCER, Nagpur expressed that IGNITE is an endeavor of the Department to encourage young technical ignited minds. This fest provides a excellent platform to students to showcase not only their talent and innovativeness but also sharpen their skills of team work and fellowship. This platform brings students from various colleges together and in a professional environment where they learn to work and grow together even while competing against each other. The events named Techroid, Geek-E-thon and Code-Links. Besides the competitive events hands on training was also delivered by subject matter experts on the Android and its connectivity to database.

One day Workshop on Android Application Development

One day Workshop organized on Android App Development for Third & Fifth semester of Information technology students to provide an opportunity to know the advances in the subject mentioned above which will enable them to develop confidence of students in learning process academic curriculum of engineering students. The topic of Workshop lecture was “Android App Development” on 23/9/2017 by Mr Lalit Ghode & Mr Shivam Thakur, Alumni, RGCER, nagpur. The topics covered by the resource person were completely understood by Third & Fifth semester students and found the session very knowledgeable, motivating and interactive. Finally the vote of thanks was given by Mr Akhil Anjikar.

Social Visit to ‘Baalsadan’,Dharampeth

Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur organized a social visit to orphanage named ‘Baalsadan’ at Dharampeth, Nagpur on 15th August 2017. Prof. Manish Goswami (HOD), Prof. Akhil Anjikar, Prof. Alok Chauhan and Prof. Yogesh Narekar along with members of student forum and interested students conducted the visit.


Induction Program: Mahiti Tantra 2017

Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur organized Induction Program- Mahiti-Tantra 2017 on 29th July 2017. Dr. Manali Kshirsagar, Principal, Prof. Manish Goswami, HOD and industry stewards Mr . Shrirang Korde, Mahalaxmi Technologies, Pvt Ltd, Nagpur graced the event with their compelling presence. The purpose of this Induction program was to orient the students about their session and various activities of the department. This programme will assist students to line up their objective.

Alumni Talk- Vikram Duragkar

Department of Information Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur organized Alumni Talk by Mr. Vikram Duragkar on 24th August 2017. Mr. Vikram Durugkar is a student from 2011-12 batch and is currently working as a Senior Engineer at Vodaphone in Pune. He addressed the students on industry scenario. He told the whereabouts of industry and recruitment procedures currently being worked out at his workplace. He guided students on various aspects of placement such as group discussion, Aptitude test, HR rounds where students actively interacted with him.

Expert Lecture on Data Mining and Warehousing

The inauguration of the Notice Board, Facewall was held on 15th August,2017 at Department of Information Technology, RGCER, Nagpur. This exhibit was inaugurated by Prof.P. Shobhane, HOD Maths Dept, RGCER, he was accompanied by the Departmental HOD, Prof. Manish Goswami and staff members.Prof.P.Shobhane appreciated the artwork of students.

A total of four events took place over the two days involving over 100 participants. Mr Manish Goswami, Head, Information Technology, RGCER, Nagpur expressed that IGNITE is an endeavor of the Department to encourage young technical ignited minds. This fest provides a excellent platform to students to showcase not only their talent and innovativeness but also sharpen their skills of team work and fellowship. This platform brings students from various colleges together and in a professional environment where they learn to work and grow together even while competing against each other. The events named Techroid, Code Competition, Geek-E-thon and Project Extravaganza. Besides the competitive events hands on training was also delivered by subject matter experts on the Android and its connectivity to database by Ms. Kajal Jain, Developer, Appsthentic PVT Ltd. Nagpur.


Research Lab Visit to MRSAC, Nagpur, India

Information Technology Department of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research (RGCER) Nagpur had recently organized a Research Lab Visit, for students of B.E.  3rd year at Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Center (MRSAC), Nagpur, India (www.mrsac.gov.in/en) on 03rd March 2017 at 02:15 PM. Mr. Sanjay Apturkar, Senior Scientist (MRSAC Center) delivered lectures on latest satellite images processing techniques. The motive behind the visit was, to make students aware about recent trends and technologies in the field of Satellite Image Processing and communication between satellite and center server. Mr. Sanjay Apturkar welcomed the students with the introductory speech and gave a brief idea about retrieval of satellite images, marking boundaries of land w.r.t state, city, villages, parcel and explained how development of Satellite Image Processing and Server – Satellite communication are applicable to various streams like Information Technology, Computer Technology, Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication etc. Dr. A.V.Bapat (Principal, RGCER), Prof. M.M. Goswami (HOD, Department of Information Technology), Prof. Parag Dhawan (Industrial Visit In-Charge) took the efforts in organizing this Industrial Visit.

Expert lecture was organized on subject Indutrial Economics and Entrepreneurship Development in Fifth/Seventh semester of Information technology students to provide an opportunity to know the advances in the subject mentioned above which will enable them to develop confidence of students in learning process academic curriculum of engineering students. The topic of Expert lecture was “Entrepreneurship Development” on 6/9/2016 by Mr Rohan Tanksale, Founder Director, TMC consultancy sercices, Nagpur.

Expert lecture was organized on subject Data Mining and Warehousing in Fifth semester of Information technology students to provide an opportunity to know the advances in the subject mentioned above which will enable them to develop confidence of students in learning process academic curriculum of engineering students. The topic of Workshop lecture was “R Programming” on 14/9/2016 by Mr Shsilendra Shende, Assistant Professor, YCCE, Nagpur.

Expert Lecture on Design and Analysis of Algorithm

Expert lecture was organized on subject Design Analysis of Algorithm in Fifth semester of Information technology students to provide an opportunity to know the advances in the subject mentioned above which will enable them to develop confidence of students in learning process academic curriculum of engineering students. The topic of Expert lecture was “NP complete and NP hard problem” on 14/9/2016 by Mr Muktinath Vishwakarma, Director and Alumni, Altis GATE Institute, Nagpur.

Expert Lecture on Java Programming

Expert lecture was organized on subject Java Programming in Fifth semester of Information technology students to provide an opportunity to know the advances in the subject mentioned above which will enable them to develop confidence of students in learning process academic curriculum of engineering students. The topic of Expert lecture was “Swing and Hibernate in JAVA” on 19/9/2016 by Mr Punesh Tembhare, Assistant Professor, Priyadarshani college of Engineering, Nagpur.
