Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Technology has organized a STTP On “Open Source Technologies” from 22/10/2018 to 27/10/2018 in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) . Total 30 participants participated in the event from various colleges. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Manali Kshirsagar, Principal, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, Nagpur. Eminent speakers from various reputed organizations, Mr. Madan Tiwari Mastech Computers), Mr. Chandu Vaidya (RGCER), Mrs. Rashmi Jain(RGCER), Mr. Sandip Kamble(RGCER), Ms. Ashwini Yerlekar(RGCER), Mr. Somil Deshmukh(Persistent, Nagpur), Dr. Shital Raut(VNIT, Nagpur), Ms. Richa Makhijani(IIIT,Nagpur), Dr. Girish Tere (CSI Mumbai), Mrs. Yogita Nath(Python Academy, Nagpur) shared their knowledge on different open source technologies.

The Students of CSE III sem visited the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) which is a pioneer laboratory in the field of environmental science and engineering. Students visited Harit Sangrahalaya, EMD, Technology park, Solar enery park and many other divisions inside NEERI. Students learned about various problems of environmental pollution and how to overcome them using environmental science and engineering

The forum installation program for the academic session 2018-2019 was conducted on 4th August 2018. The department formally introduced the student activity forum, Silicon Galaxy. It comprises of the core members who are responsible in carrying out the various events throughout the year. Students of first year who have chosen CSE as their discipline were also invited to the event to give them a fair idea about the working of their future department and encourage interaction. The event included entertainment through drama, dance and music.
Alumni Interaction was held on 4th August 2018. Alumni from various batches were invited to guide the students about their future, and share their own experiences from the industry. Mr. MuktinathVishwakarma (Founder of Altius Classes), Mr. Vishal Sathawane(Co-founder of Altius Classes).Ms. Aishwarya Ingle (Batch 2018, placed in Infosys) and Gagandeep Bhatti (Event Manager of Silicon Galaxy Forum of batch 2017-18) were present at the event.
The Parent-Teacher Meet was held on 11thAugust 2018. Initiated with lighting of the lamps, it was aimed at facilitating the interaction between the parents and the teachers. The parents were made aware of the performance of their respective wards to which they exchanged their feedback from the faculties. The programme saw fruitful discussions take place between the two bodies as well as it highlighted the outstanding students through tokens of appreciations that were awarded to them.
The students of Computer Science and Engineering department organized a programme for the occasion of Teachers Day appreciating the very gift of teachers and their immense contribution in nurturing the students. Starting with the lighting of the lamp, the programme included games, dance, drama and music for the entertainment of the teachers. The teachers were gifted mementos in the form of their portraits which were well received and appreciated.
Aimed at the all-round development of a student, the student activity forum conducted a sports activity where the students competed in games like Box cricket for girls and Futsal for boys. The students enjoyed the much needed break and got acquainted with their peers in the field of their interest. Team building and companionship principles were well inculcated through the activity.
An event, ‘Gateway to IT’ was conducted for the Final year students of CSE. Speaking at the event was Mr. Gandhar Patwardhan. The event was aimed at creating awareness among the final year students in the field of IT and its changing trends. The speaker threw insight upon the scope of IT industry in the scenario of today and guided the students in preparing for aptitude, soft skills development and resume writing.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized Two days National Level Technical Event “CSEISMIC 2K18”, held on 23rd and 24th February ,under “Techwaves-2018” in Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research,Nagpur (RGCER) in association with Computer Society Of India under the guidance of the Department head, Prof. Rashmi Jain. The Event was inaugurated in presence of Dr. Shekhar Bhole, CEO MGI and Dr. Manali. M. Kshirsagar Principal RGCER, Nagpur on 22nd February 2018 at 3:00 PM. The Technical Event CSEISMIC consisted of various events like KODOTEK 8.0, DESIGNO, INGENIOUS, CRYPTERS, KNACKERS, VIDzard, National Level Paper Presentation & GAME-O-LUSION. Prof. Rajesh Nasare was the in-charge for the event. Students from various renowned colleges including IIT, NIT have participated in CSEISMIC 2K18. KODOTEK 8.0 KODOTEK 8.0 is the 8th installation of the coding competition that has been organized under CSEISMIC. The competition consisted of 10 problem statements and was evaluated out of 1000 marks. It was hosted on Hackerrank.com which is an online portal for coding competitions. There were also participants who appeared online.VIDzard, “VIDzard 2.0” is the second instalment of “VIDzard”, a workshop on video making. Participants got opportunity to learn about production detail working, cinematography, lightning, sound designing, camera acting, camera angles, equipment handling, sound recording, editing. Everything about making a video on paper to online on the first day and on the second day the participants competed between teams and submitted a microfilm in just 3 hours. Event Head Mr. Lokesh Thota & his team has took efforts to make this event successful. DevHack, Silicon Galaxy Forum of Department Of Computer Science and Engineering, RGCER, Nagpur in association with Computer Society of India(CSI) organized Devhack (a Overnight Coding Competition) under CSEISMIC-18 and TechWaves. DevHack is a non-stop sixteen hour digital product development competition where problem are posed to technical students for innovative solutions. The objective behind DevHack is to motivate the students to think out of the box and offer innovative solutions for some of the daunting problems faced by current era.
Problem statements will come directly from different organizations/ institutions/ IT departments based on their requirements which will be used as a challenge by the student for developing innovative digital solutions.Event Head Mr. Pritam Chaudhari.The Second day of CSEISMIC-2018 continued with the same enthusiasm. Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized Crypters under CSEISMIC 8.0 for the session 2017-18, on 24/02/2018, from 10.00 a.m. onwards. 62 teams of 2 participants each across all the departments from various colleges and institutions like the Priyadarshini Group of Institutions, Anjuman College, JL, SDMP, GP and RGCER participated in the event. The event was conducted across a total of 4 rounds with each round eliminating a select number of teams. Abhijeet Vighne and Vinay Gaikwad from CTech department and Sneha Mohadikar and Vinay Chopkar of CSE department of RGCER emerged 1st prize.Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research organized 4th National Conference on Information Communication Technology (NCICT) 2018 on 24th February, 2018. Total 32 papers were accepted and 150 students participated in the event from various colleges from Nagpur region and 2 papers were coauthored by IIT M.Tech scholars. The keynote speaker for the conference was Mr. Vinit Kapoor from Persistent Systems, Nagpur. The conference was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Manali Kshirsagar and Mr. Vinit Kapoor. The session chairs were Prof. Gauri Dhopavkar and Prof. Sachin Jain from YCCE and Prof. S.Kalambe from DBACER. Prizes of cash worth Rs.10, 000 were given. Two prizes were given to the students of Computer science and IT track and two prizes to the students of Electronics and Electrical Engineering track.Total 515 students from various colleges in RTMNU participated in technical event CSEISMIC 2018. All faculty members and non-teaching staff of department took lot of efforts to make the event successful.
The Computer Science & Engineering Department of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, Nagpur recently organized Six Days Short Term Training Programme(STTP) on Data Science & Data Mining from 18th December 2017 to 23rd December 2017. Total 26 Participants registered for the STTP. The Training Programme was inaugurated by Dr. Manali Kshirsagar, Principal, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research. Prof. P. Debre (Dean Academics, RGCER), Prof. R. Jain(HOD, CSE), Prof. H.Turkar, Prof. N. Titarmare Co-ordinator(s) of STTP were also present. Dr. Manali Kshirsagar addressed on the topic of “Introduction to Data Science”. Dr. M. Dabhu, Prof. R. Jain, Prof. S. Shende, Prof. P. Deshkar, Prof. R. Nasare, Prof. P. Dhawan, Prof. A. Yerlekar, Mr. Fazil Sheikh, Mr. Roshan Gayaki, Mr. S. Wankhade were the various Resource Persons of the Programme. Valedictory Function was conducted on 23rd December 2017 in presences of Mr. S. Wankhade
(Manager, Infocepts , Nagpur). All the participants of STTP, faculties of Computer Science department were present in this event. The event was executed successfully with the support of Dr. M. Kshirsagar, Prof. R Jain, Prof. H. Turkar. Prof. N.Titarmare, Prof. A. Yerlekar, Prof. K. Likhar and the Computer Science and Engineering faculties have putted their efforts for the success event.
To get practical knowledge and live demonstration of latest data storage technology, students of 3rd Year ,a group of 28 students and 2 Faculty members (Prof. Ashish Golghate, Prof.. Rupali Burde) from Department of Computer science and Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research, Nagpur visited to APTRON Development Center, Noida on 28th November 2017.In this visit students learn about the use of recent technology and network security aspect in development of network based projects.

Guest Lecture was also arranged for the students at Seminar Hall on Mobile App development. Students also have the practical session on live project. Students found the visit very informative and useful. Total 28 Students were visited at HEX Technology, Chandigarh with 2 faculty members. Prof. Ashish Golghate, Ms. Rupali Burde took effort for successful completion of visit.
